Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join the Geriatrics and Extended Care Community Living Center team!
- The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Demonstrates knowledge of geriatric care to participate in a restorative/rehabilitative plan of care. Performs care according the CLC Restorative Care Program: Bowel and Bladder toileting, Bed Mobility, Ambulation and Transfers,ADL, Amputation and Prosthetic Care, ROM, Splint and Brace Care, and Restorative Dining. Carries out the restorative services according to the plan of care using interventions that assist or promote the Veteran's ability toattain his or her maximum functional potential and using a safe manner. Performs active and passive range of motion. Provides assistance using verbal and physical guidance and direction that teaches the Veteran how to apply or applies the splint/brace as needed with verbal cues to Veteran and monitoring skin before donning/doffing. Identifies and performs proper transfer procedures using appropriate techniques, body mechanics, and equipment. Ambulates Veteran using appropriate bed mobility assist, sit/stand, and assistive device as appropriate. Assists and monitors assessed needs and follows interventions for restorative dining. Provides education and or assistance with amputation or newly acquired prosthetics. Encourages Veteran self-care with ADLs. Work Schedule: Full time. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. Some positions require rotation of tours or indefinite work on non-administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor. Not all duties may be listed, so other duties may be assigned.
